The world is full of those individuals we dub as “Mad Lads”, and one such Mad Lad in China decided to challenge the norm and make a laptop out of full-sized desktop components. As to what parts they used, a full-fat NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPU and an AMD Ryzen 7950X3D.
The man took to the Chinese social media platform BiliBili to post his Franken-laptop for all to see, with all the components used in all its glory. To call their machine a “laptop” is a stretch and but in all fairness, this isn’t the first time a person has created such high-powered machines, with the goal of portability somewhat in mind.

Getting back on, the components they used was a blower-style RTX 4090, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, an ITX board, 32GB DDR5-6800 RAM, and a speaker system comprising two 20W tweeters plus woofer.
The end result is a system that is seemingly able to maintain its composure. Even in its unorthodox chassis, the RTX 4090 is able to reach and draw the full-fat 450W while staying within the 70°C threshold.

As for its size, the machine has a thickness of 7cm, so it can still fit inside a backpack. Now here’s the downside: it weighs approximately 7kg, meaning that unless you’re aiming to get swole or you’re doing weight training, you’re better off carrying this machine around using a dolly or a suitcase.
