The fate of the iPhone SE 4 had major swings in both directions last year, initially being reported to only being a prototype to later noted to be getting the Action button like the other current iPhones. Now, a newer report indicates that it will be something you can buy after all, as it notes that is “nearing production”.
According to Bloomberg, the iPhone SE 4 is codenamed V59, and will finally be moving away from the old design featuring the home button. This means it will also have to get Face ID as a result, but beyond that, the report also mentions the device getting Apple Intelligence. But going back to the outside of the phone, it is said to more resemble the iPhone 14, notch and all, corroborating more recent claims based on renders.
Also being mentioned in the report is another iPad Air refresh, with two models codenamed J607 and J637. They will also be paired with new Magic Keyboards, codenamed R307 and R308, featuring some of the new additions that were first seen in their iPad Pro equivalents.
The iPhone SE 4, as well as the iPad Air 7 and their Magic Keyboards, are noted to be arriving early next year. The tablets are noted to come with “internal improvements”, though what exactly was not mentioned. The same can be said about the chipset that the phone will be using.
