Yesterday, an update pushed out by the MyJPJ app notified users that the platform will soon be making the use of MyDigital ID mandatory for logging into the app starting 10 October 2024. Following this sudden announcement, it is no surprise that many Malaysians have flocked to quickly register for the digital verification system, but many have found it to be impossible.
On X alone, there are countless users griping about the MyDigital ID app’s laggy UI. More to the point, many have stated that they have been unable to complete the registration online, leading to mass frustration over the upcoming mandate.
Attempted to register for @mydigital_ID this morning and the app just gave up and puked this 1997 looking page.
Not surprised though. pic.twitter.com/Oo52TjrezB

According to some users, they have been met with only blank pages after finishing the e-KYC process, which involves taking pictures of your identity card and then a selfie using your phone. I have personally experienced the same issue since the news came out yesterday — despite numerous attempts, I have not been able to get past the e-KYC process as of writing.
MyDigital ID also allows Malaysians to register for the platform through kiosks nationwide. However, when I tried to register using the kiosk at Tealive in Midvalley yesterday, it was unable to go through the IC verification stage, meaning that you might also be out of luck if you want to try the physical kiosk route.
One netizen claimed that he was able to successfully register at dawn, advising others to avoid attempting to sign up during the day. Another person said that he kept failing the e-KYC process because he was wearing glasses, as there were no prompts informing him to remove glasses before taking the selfie.
The difficulty in registering for MyDigital ID, ahead of next week’s deadline, has stoked worries of people losing access to their digital driving license. Neither the digital ministry nor the transport ministry have put out statements regarding the mandate.
