In addition to Google’s Pixel 9 series, new leaks have been posted online regarding rendered images of the official Google Pixel 9a. The 9a is expected to be the successor of the Pixel 8a which launched in May.
Apart from the other Pixel smartphones that feature a big camera bump, this model doesn’t feature one, but only a small ring raised around the oval-shaped glass housing. The phone has larger bezels than the rest of its family, flatter sides, a power button in a different position, and a punch hole in the top centre of the screen for the selfie camera.
On a side note, the 9a could be the last Pixel device to use a Samsung-designed Tensor chipset, as Google will be moving on to TSMC chips starting next year. Specs-wise, the phone is expected to be very similar to the Pixel 8a; it should feature a 6.1-inch display, 8GB RAM, and 128GB of storage. Further, it’s looking likely that it’ll use the Tensor G4 chip like the rest of the Pixel family, just paired with a downgraded modem.
The Google Pixel 9a is also rumoured to roll out with Android 15, which is also expected to officially roll out later this month. Further The phone will receive seven years of software support from Google and it will likely be unveiled during the Google I/O developer conference in spring next year.
