The MyJPJ app’s latest update came with a surprising announcement that it will soon be making the use of MyDigital ID mandatory. This means that you will need to have an account via the digital ID platform in order to log into the app.
MyDigital ID was rolled out earlier this year as a unified digital verification system for various government platforms. You can register via several kiosks placed around the country or you can sign up through the mobile app. To register, you simply need take pictures of the front and back of your identity card.
According to the app, the mandatory requirement will be implemented starting from 10 October 2024. The JPJ app is used to access your digital driving license and road tax, as well as renewing them, so it is best to sign up for MyDigital ID in order to maintain access.
When the digital verification platform was first launched, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that it will be expanded to more government services soon. While other government apps such as MySejahtera have already implemented MyDigital ID logins, it has still not been made widely mandatory yet.
