Razer has unveiled the Freyja haptic gaming cushion at RazerCon 2024, a product designed to enhance gaming immersion by vibrating in sync with gameplay. Originally introduced as Project Esther during CES 2024, the product is now available to the public. This thin, multi-pad cushion can be easily attached to any gaming chair, although the company suggests pairing it with its Iskur 2 throne for optimal experience.
The Razer Freyja features six small motors embedded within six individual pads that vibrate to simulate in-game events. These vibrations are synchronised with gameplay or other media, offering a tactile experience designed to engage users physically as well as visually. By focusing on specific points of contact, the cushion enhances the sense of immersion during gaming or media consumption.
Adjustability is a key feature of the Freyja, as its placement can be easily customised with adjustable straps. A control panel located on the left side allows users to manage power, vibration intensity, and connectivity options. It supports both 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth, allowing users to connect the cushion to their phone or handheld gaming device, adding versatility beyond just PC gaming. A single power connection with a breakpoint ensures safety in case the cord is tugged.
Razer’s Synapse software enables customisation of the Freyja’s settings through a dedicated Sensa HD section. Users can adjust the frequency, intensity, and direction of vibrations to suit their preferences. The cushion can react to in-game events, such as explosions, or provide a more generalised atmospheric response, enhancing the overall gaming environment.
The Razer Freyja is available in select markets for $300 (~RM1,237), though it is not currently offered in Malaysia. Unfortunately, there is no word on whether the company intends to release the product in additional regions at this time.
