Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy S24 FE, the latest addition to its current-gen flagship smartphone line-up. Much like before, this particular variant aims to be the more affordable option, but without sacrificing much from what’s offered by the series’ non-Ultra models. That being said, yes, it also comes with plenty of Galaxy AI features onboard.
This year’s FE now rivals the Galaxy S24+ in terms of size. Much like the latter, it features the same 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, which features FHD+ resolution, up to 120Hz variable refresh rate, and a new Vision Booster enhancement which, according to Samsung, optimises colour and contrast for clear and comfortable gaming even in sunlight. However, despite the similarity in size, the bottom bezel on this particular variant is thicker.
In terms of build, the surrounding frame of the FE is manufactured from aluminium rather than the tougher “Armored Aluminium” that’s featured on other Galaxy S24 models. Despite which, it carries the same IP68 water and dust resistance rating as its siblings. Other than that, the Galaxy S24 FE comes with an under-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, Android 14 via One UI 6.1, as well as 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC connectivity.
Under its hood is an Exynos 2400e, a slightly watered down version of Samsung’s first-party chipset. Accompanying it is a total RAM count of 8GB, which is the same as the vanilla Galaxy S24 model, while its storage options is either 256GB or 512GB. Meanwhile, the phone is powered by a 4,700mAh battery with 25W fast charging support via USB-C, but lacks wireless charging support. There’s also a larger vapour chamber to ensure that temperatures remain at comfortable levels when gaming or running demanding tasks.
For imaging, most of the sensors that make up the Galaxy S24 FE’s triple camera setup is the same as the vanilla and Plus models, with the only exception being its telephoto. In detail, the phone features a 50MP primary and a 12MP ultra-wide, while an 8MP sensor sits behind its 3x optical zoom-capable telephoto lens. In front, housed within the cutout on its display is a 10MP selfie camera.
As for Galaxy AI, all of the familiar tools and enhancements that were introduced on the original line-up are featured on the FE variant. These include Live Translate, Generative Edit, AI Nightography, Instant Slo-Mo and much more.
The new Galaxy S24 FE is available to order now via Samsung’s official website and authorised retailers nationwide. Pricing-wise, it is retailing at RM3,299 for the 256GB configuration and RM3,899 for the 512GB, while colour options include Blue, Graphite, Gray and Mint. Based on this, the phone’s starting price is considerably higher than its predecessor, though this is due to the 128GB trim not available for the local market.
