AirAsia has announced a new partnership between MOVETIX, its own ticketing platform, and Thailand-based ticketing platform Ticketmelon. With the collaboration, the latter’s inventory of over 300,000 tickets across the ASEAN region is integrated into the MOVE app.
According to AirAsia’s press release, this will enable its users to book flights, accommodations, event tickets, and airport transfers within a single app. Tony Fernandes, CEO of Capital A, commented, “we want to make everyone’s dreams of attending any event or concert, wherever in Asean, into a reality, and make it as affordable as possible. AirAsia MOVE, our OTA platform is not just about booking hotels and flights, but about giving you experiences that you have never dreamt of.”
The company claims that live events tourism is growing at unprecedented rates, with sports tourism currently being valued at US$564.7 billion (~RM2.3 trillion) and is expected to grow to US$1.33 trillion (~RM5.5 trillion) by 2032. Meanwhile, music tourism is projected to contribute an additional US$13.8 billion (~RM57.1 billion), which is double its current valuation of US$6.6 billion (~RM27.3 billion).
The MOVETIX platform was launched earlier this year, allowing its users to book events and activities in various countries globally. It can be accessed through its website as well as the Events & Activities section of the MOVE app.
