Sony’s September PlayStation State Of Play expectedly shared a lot of games but suffice to say, it had some major announcements. To bring you up to speed, here’s a short list of the key and major highlights of Sony’s online presentation that we believe are important and no, Dynasty Warriors didn’t make the cut.
Chroma Collection PS5 And Accessories
As revealed today, Sony is releasing a new Chroma Edition for the PlayStation 5 (PS5). The collection comprises three new shiny, shimmering, and slick-looking colours: Chroma Pearl, Chrome Indigo, And Chroma Teal. As their name indicates, the Pearl gives off hues of white, pinks, and creams; the Indigo variant has deep blues and vivid purples; and the Teal model produces different shades of green.
And it’s not just the consoles that are getting the Chroma treatment either. The PlayStation DualSense wireless controllers will also come in their console’s corresponding colours.
Preorders for the Sony PlayStation 5 Chrome Collection will begin next month, on 3 October. The Chroma Pearl and Indigo accessories and console plates will be available from 7 November onwards, while the Teal colourway will be available starting 23 January 2025. Price-wise, the Chroma Collection DualSense controllers will retails at US$79.99 (~RM330), while the Chroma console plates will retails for US$64.99 (~RM268).
Legacy Of Kain Soul Reaver 1 And 2 Remastered
Yes, you read that right. Fans of Raziel and the Legacy of Kain IP are undoubtedly jumped for joy and screamed with glee – god knows I have friends who did when they heard about it – when PlayStation announced that it will be releasing the remastered version of Soul Reaver 1 and Soul Reaver 2, which are arguably the best of the entire series, with Defiance just trailing behind.
Just to be clear, the PlayStation announcement was for Remastered editions of the games, and not remakes. Basically, that just means better texture and graphics all around, while the core gameplay and mechanics remain untouched.
Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 and Soul Reaver 2 Remastered arrives on the PlayStation 5 10 December.
Ghost Of Yotei Arriving In 2025
Perhaps the biggest and most important announcement in this September’s PlayStation State of Play came from studio Sucker Punch, and its upcoming sequel to the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima: Ghost of Yotei.
In Ghost of Yotei, players are introduced to a new hero, Atsu. Further, the game takes place 300 years after the events of Tsushima in the year 1603. Given the name and the key visual arts that were teased in the trailer, the game will take place in and around the island of Hokkaido in Feudal Japan and more specifically, the start of the Tokugawa Shogunate. Also known as the Edo period.
Not much else is know about Ghost of Yotei, save for the fact that the protagonist Atsu is like a female ronin, on the hunt for something or someone, much like how Jin was on the hunt for Khotun Khan. At the end of the trailer, though, we see that Sucker Punch will be introducing several new combat elements in-game, chief among them being the ability to dual-wield katanas and the introduction of black powder weapons, such as the musket.
