Tecno has confirmed the upcoming launch of its POP 9 5G smartphone, the latest addition to its POP series budget-friendly range. The new model serves as a successor to the POP 8 that launched in October last year. The POP 9 is touted to support 5G connectivity and has an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance.
The POP 9 will also be the first smartphone in its category to incorporate a 48MP Sony IMX582 camera sensor. The device is fitted with a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC and will come equipped with 4GB RAM, plus an additional 4GB of virtual RAM through memory fusion. For storage, users will have the option to choose between a model with 64GB or with 128GB.
In terms of features, the smartphone will include an infrared sensor as well as stereo speakers that support Dolby Atmos. Additionally, it will feature a 120Hz HD+ display and a 5000mAh battery with 18W charging. We should also mention that this will be the first smartphone in its range to support NFC technology.
Following its launch, the POP 9 will be available for purchase in India starting 24 September, with the official pricing expected to be revealed then. The device will come in two different colours and two free smartphone skins included in the box. At the time of writing, we cannot confirm its arrival in Malaysia.
