Earlier yesterday, TM put out a notice that a submarine cable fault was the cause of an ongoing connectivity and bandwidth issue for many Unifi customers. That issue, by the way, has reportedly persisted for several days, and is what prompted the telco to act upon it.
TM’s initial message to the public was that they was actively working to “address the situation and optimise your connection during this period.” At noon yesterday, it blasted on its social media platforms that it was expecting a full recovery of both speed and connectivity to Unifi subscribers by 6PM yesterday. Its #UnifiAlerts on X did blast out a small follow-up after, but it is more or less the same message.
Update on Unifi Service Experience Following Submarine Cable Fault

To boil it down to the bare basics, the submarine cable fault issue varies from one Unifi customer to another. For some, that issue presents itself in the form of increased or enhanced lag. For others, it could be a disconnection issue altogether, leaving some users with the Loss Of Signal (LOS) LED on their Unifi modems blinking red.
However, it’s been more than 24 hour since that first update was blasted out and there has been no official announcement that the issue has been resolved, leaving many to believe, including this writer, that the issue might still be ongoing. Remember, the update merely said that the telco had expected to resolve the issue by 6PM yesterday: it has made no official announcement that the issue has been fully resolved. Update: A TM spokesperson reached out to clarify the matter, stating that the telco’s last message about the expectation of resolving the issue was indeed its closing announcement on the matter.
At the time of this publication, a quick check on the official Yunni account on X shows that the last complaint was approximately an hour ag, with an Unifi subscriber says that they still do not have a connection to the internet. Although to be fair, that could be an entirely different issue, unrelated to the ongoing problem.
