DJI has officially launched the Osmo Action 5 Pro. It is the brand’s latest action camera, featuring numerous upgrades over its predecessor, including a new image sensor aimed at improving image quality and low-light performance.
Design-wise, the DJI Action 5 Pro sports a similar look as its predecessor, but comes with a textured body and larger OLED displays with 1000 nit peak brightness on the front and back. Additional features include waterproofing up to 20 metres, 47GB of built-in storage, DJI Mic 2 compatibility, a built-in pressure sensor, as well as Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth and USB 3.0 connectivity.
Under its hood is a 1/1.3-inch sensor that captures 40MP stills and has a 13.5-stop dynamic range for recording 4K/60fps video in low-light conditions. In addition, the Osmo Action 5 Pro is capable of recording 4K at 120fps in 4:3 aspect ratio, as well as 960fps slow-motion by capturing at 240fps and using intelligent frame generation to create extra frames. It also comes with the brand’s 360-degree horizon lock stabilisation, pre-recording capability, and SuperNight mode with AI noise reduction.
The action camera is equipped with a 1,950mAh battery capacity, which DJI claims is able to last up to four hours under specific conditions: recording 1080p/24fps at 25°C with Rocksteady stabilisation on, Wi-Fi off, and both displays off. The company adds that it can also operate in temperatures from -20°C to 45°C, though battery life drops slightly at the lower end. There’s also fast charging support, which grants up to two hours of shooting from a 15-minute charge via a compatible 30W USB-C charger.
The new Osmo Action 5 Pro is offered in two packages. The first is the Standard Combo, which includes the camera itself, an additional battery, horizontal-vertical protective frame, quick-release adapter mount, curved adhesive base, locking screw, USB-C to C PD cable, rubber lens protector, glass lens cover, and anti-slip pad. The second option being the Adventure Combo, which adds a mini quick-release adapter mount, multifunctional battery case, and a 1.5m extension rod.
The camera’s local availability has yet to be determined. However, DJI Malaysia’s official Facebook page has confirmed that the Osmo Action 5 Pro will be priced at RM1,799 for the Standard Combo, and RM2,289 for the Adventure Combo.
