Huawei has officially introduced its latest smartwatch series, the Watch GT 5. Made up of two models, they are being marketed as fashionable accessories with several Pro-level sports features. On top of this, the brand also announced the global debut of the MatePad Pro 12.2, which was revealed in China last month.
The Watch GT 5 comes in two sizes, namely 41mm and 46mm, with 1.32-inch and 1.43-inch AMOLED displays respectively. It gets a stainless steel chassis with metal, leather, plastic, and woven wrist strap options. As for the GT 5 Pro, it comes in 42mm and 46mm sizes with ceramic, titanium, and plastic straps, but its screen sizes are exactly the same as the non-Pro model. Unlike the vanilla variant, however, the Pro is fitted with sapphire glass for a tougher display.
Both smartwatches are equipped with the TruSense system for users to monitor their heart rate, blood-oxygen saturation levels, sleep quality, and menstrual cycle, but only the Pro version gets ECG tracking. Moreover, they come with built-in GPS and offline maps for your workouts.
As for water resistance, both watches are rated at IP69K, but the Pro takes it a step further with support for diving up to 40 metres. Battery-wise, the smaller version can last between five to seven days while the larger models can go on for up to 14 days.
Next up is the MatePad Pro 12.2, which sports a 12.2-inch tandem OLED display, which has a 144Hz refresh rate, a 3:2 aspect ratio, and can reach a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. As usual, the brand did not disclose the chipset, but it is presumed to be a modified version of the Kirin 9010 found in the Pura 70 series.
For imaging, the tablet features a 13MP main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide lens on the back, while the front houses a 16MP sensor. Powering it is a 10,100mAh battery with support for 100W charging.
Both the Watch GT 5 series as well as the MatePad Pro 12.2 will be launching in Malaysia on 26 September 2024. For those who want to pre-order, you can already do so through the brand’s online store.
