Apple traditionally doesn’t reveal the wired charging rates of iPhones, and whether it is fast or slow depends on who you ask. But it looks like there may be concrete figures for the iPhone 16 family, if a listing that has appeared online is to be believed.
This listing comes from the Weibo account of Chinese consumer product testing and screening platform WHYLAB, showing screenshots of the iPhone 16 range appearing in the China Quality Certification Centre. All four of them are listed with 5-15VDC and 3A, or a maximum of 45W.
Also mentioned as part of the post are the identification of the iPhone 16 variants based on their model number. Going from base to Plus, Pro and Pro Max models, their numbers are A3288, A3291, A3294 and A3297 respectively.
For what it’s worth, Apple has said that the MagSafe charger for iPhones, including the iPhone 16, can provide charging rates of up to 25W. Which is nice, but you’ll still probably go for wired charging and its potential for 45W if it can save you time. Of course, whether or not you can actually get the full 45W with an iPhone 6 you get off the shelf remains to be seen.
