HMD has officially revealed the pricing for its retro-inspired Barbie flip phone for the Malaysian market. According to the brand’s website, it is now available for pre-order via Lazada at a special price of only RM609. Outside of this promo, the phone is set to retail for RM699.
To recap, the Barbie Phone was announced in late August. It features a design that sports multiple shades of pink, while on its cover is a 1.77-inch external screen under a reflective surface for framing selfies using its external 0.3MP camera. When opened, the phone reveals a 2.8-inch display, along with a T9 keypad that lights up in the dark.
Though positioned as an “anti-smartphone” which lacks data support, the device does incorporate some modern features. These include a USB-C port for charging and data transfer, Bluetooth 5.0, and an onboard digital well-being app. It also comes with 64MB of RAM, 128MB of storage, supports FM radio, MP3 playback, and includes a 3.5mm headphone jack. For added nostalgia, the classic Snake game is pre-installed.
The Barbie Phone comes with various accessories as well, including two interchangeable back covers, a pink USB-C cable, and a beaded phone strap that can be customised with charms. It also includes stickers and stick-on gems, allowing users to further personalise their device.
