“Ask Music” is a new AI-generated feature in YouTube Music that allows users to create custom radio stations based on tabbed music genre prompts. Users can interact with the feature by tapping the card that leads to a fullscreen chat interface, ask for any input on songs or music genres and easily curate a mood playlist.
The prompts can be as simple as a few words or even more elaborate sentences, such as “80s post-punk” or “Poppy shoegaze.” The AI-powered program will then give song suggestions on an auto-generated playlist card. The card will display a title and a description based on the curated playlist, with the ability to save tracks to a library as well as provide feedback on the playlist itself.
According to 9to5Google, “Ask Music” is nearing a broader international rollout, having already reached users in Canada and Australia. Google initially launched the feature as a test in the US but intends to extend it to other regions now.
Currently, “Ask Music” is only accessible on Android devices, with no version available for iOS just yet. Additionally, while the feature has been gradually expanding globally, we should mention that the program is only exclusive to YouTube Music Premium subscribers.
