Mercedes Benz Malaysia announced its new E-Class series today. The 2024 lineup first launched in Europe – Germany was one of the first countries to receive them, to be specific – and have finally made their way down to our shores.
To oversimplify, there’s a total of two variations of the new E-Class being brought into Malaysia: the E200 and the E350e AMG, the latter being a plug-in hybrid and our focus in this launch, for obvious reasons.
In terms of electric-based performance, the E-Class E350E AMG has a maximum range of 118km based on WLTP standard. Additionally, it has a 55Kw charging capacity, with its parent company claiming it to be the first plug-in hybrid to support fast charging. Breaking it down further, the car is primarily powered by a 2.0 litre M254 turbo petrol engine, translating to around 204 PS and 350 Nm. You also get a 129 PS/440 Nm electric motor with a total system output of 313 PS and 550 Nm. It goes from zero to 100km/h in 6.4 seconds and has a top speed of 236 km/h. Beyond that, you get the usual luxurious creature comforts that one would expect from Mercedes.
Pricing starts at RM355,888 for the E200, while the E350e AMD Line starts from RM418,888. That price includes the 10% sales tax but without insurance.
