Apple Watch Series 10 was the first set of products to be announced during the opening of its September announcement. Stating the obvious, it’s the successor to its Series 9, and comes with a somewhat new design and look.
The Watch Series 10 marks the first time in a while since Apple actually changed or improved the overall look of its wearable. For starters, the new Watch series sports a thinner overall chassis. At 9.7mm, it’s approximately 10% thinner and lighter than the previous generation. Additionally, its OLED display has also been enlarged.
A thinner chassis and larger display isn’t the only change to the new series. Apple says that, thanks to the new look, it was able to reposition the onboard speakers which, for the first time, you can actually play audio directly from, including music and podcasts. Besides taking calls, though, we don’t know why anyone who would put themselves in the spotlight like that.
Moving, the Watch Series 10 is also fitted with Apple’s latest S10 chip. The onboard and Watch-specific processors comprise a 4-core neural engine, and that’s all Apple is sharing at the moment. For software, the new Watch series will ship out with watchOS 11, which includes several new apps that focus on not just fitness but also health.
On that note, the Watch Series 10 is also the first series in Apple’s lineup of wearable to feature Sleep apnea detection, which monitors a user’s breathing patterns while they sleep. Of course, this will require them to keep it on while they sleep. That said, the feature may not be immediately available in Malaysia, as it has yet to be approved by US FDA.
The Apple Watch Series 10 will be available from 20 September and will be available in four options. The first three are colourway options: natural, gold, and dark slate grey. Price-wise, it retails at from RM1,799 for the GPS-only version, and RM2,449 for the model with mobile network support. The fourth option, which is made from Grade 5 recycled Titanium, retails at a steeper price tag of RM3,299.
On a side note, Apple also announced a new look for the Watch Ultra 2. It’s still the same product that was announced last year but this time around, the fruit company is giving consumers a new Satin Black option, which is a fancy name for its offering of Grade 5 Titanium, and even comes with a new titanium Milanese Loop strap. The new colour option retails from RM3,799 and if you’re going for the model with the Milanese Loop, that will set you back RM4,299.
