Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously claimed that a number of Mac devices will be getting refreshed this year to get the M4 chip. This is claimed to be happening In October, following Apple’s Glowtime event tomorrow that will unveil this year’s batch of iPhones. But like tomorrow’s event, the October launch will see more than a few Macs getting announced.
In the most recent edition of Gurman’s Power On newsletter, the claim is that the M4 Mac models will be joined by “new iPad models”. Though which models exactly were not specified, it’s probably safe to say that the iPad Pro and Air will not be a part of this. After all, Apple saw to their refresh earlier in May of this year, with the former even getting the M4 chip ahead of Macs.
With half of the possible range of iPad models likely out of the equation, the ones that remain are the the base model iPad, the current model being the 10th generation and released back in 2022. But perhaps more deserving of a new iteration is the iPad mini, which saw its 6th generation release in 2021. Both are probably in need of a new chipset, even if they won’t be getting Apple’s brand new, top-of-the-line M4.
Looking to the more immediate future, the Glowtime event tomorrow will feature more than just the iPhone 16 family getting unveiled, as previously mentioned. The Apple Watch, as well as the base AirPods, are also expected to be sharing the spotlight.
