The rumour mill in recent months has been a veritable twister in recent months when it comes to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Or, as it was previously known, the Galaxy Fold Ultra or Galaxy Fold Slim. While the new name looks to be sticking, live images of the device have also started making their way online.
One such example comes courtesy of Android Headlines, showing the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition off unfolded. In may ways, it looks a lot like the base Galaxy Z Fold6, but you don’t need that much closer of a look to tell that the camera bump is much larger. This is likely to accommodate the oft-rumoured 200MP main camera.
Less immediately visible – since there’s nothing to compare it to – is that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is also thinner. So much so that the side-mounted fingerprint sensor looks to have been sacrificed to make it happen. It’s difficult to be certain, as the image quality is far from the best, but the report notes that the sensor is not lost.
The back of the device looks to sport a brushed metal look, but it’s otherwise unclear if the back will be bare metal or if it will have a layer of glass over it. Most of everything else about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is familiar. This applies from the just barely rounded corners to the placement of the secondary camera on the outer screen.
Worth reiterating at this point that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is expected to be exclusive to China and its home market of South Korea. So while its launch date has not yet been revealed, there’s little reason to be excited unless you’re already planning to get one imported.
