Vivo recently unveiled the Y300 Pro in China as the latest addition to the company’s mid-range lineup. It serves as a successor to the Y200 Pro released earlier this year. Despite this short interval between releases, the Y300 Pro is touted to have significant features that enhance the new smartphone’s performance and user experience.
The camera’s main sensor now features a 50MP f/1.8 camera, replacing the previous model’s sensor. The 2MP depth sensor remains, while the front-facing camera has been enhanced from 16MP to 32MP with an f/2.0 aperture. Other notable improvements include the upgraded ingress protection for water and dust resistance, rating at IP65 compared to the Y200 Pro’s IP54.
Under the hood, the Y300 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, offering a base configuration of 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, with options extending up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. The display now measures 6.77-inches diagonally with a 120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit colour depth, and a peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits, though the peak brightness might be limited towards HDR content. Additionally, the battery capacity has increased to 6,500 mAh, supporting 80W wired charging, which contributes to the phone’s slightly higher weight of around 20 grams.
The Y300 Pro will be available in four colours: Black, Ocean Blue, Titanium, and White. There will be two versions, an entry-level model that starts at CNY1,799 (~RM1,100) and a higher-end version priced at CNY2,499 (~RM1,528). While the phone is currently in the pre-order phase, global availability is still unknown.
