Apart from the Nitro Blaze 7, Acer also lifted the veil off its Project DualPlay gaming laptop during FA 2024 in Berlin, Germany. But unlike other devices revealed by the company today, this particular product is a proof of concept that’s intended to showcase innovations which we’ll get into detail in a bit.
Acer’s Project DualPlay concept embraces the latest gaming trends by offering a versatile and shared PC gaming experience in one powerful device. It is designed to enhance gameplay with features that cater to both single and multiplayer gamers, introducing a new dimension of control and interaction.
At the core of the device’s design is a large touchpad that doubles as a detachable wireless controller. With a simple two-finger release action, the controller can be unlocked from its electromagnetic lock on the keyboard. This action simultaneously activates two high-fidelity, 5-watt pop-out speakers on the sides of the laptop, creating an immersive audio experience that enhances the intensity of gaming moments.
For multiplayer gaming, Project DualPlay offers even more versatility. The detachable controller can be split into two joysticks, allowing for head-to-head combat in games like Capcom’s Street Fighter 6 or other competitive genres. This setup transforms the laptop into a battle station, giving players the freedom to switch between keyboard and controller modes depending on their preferred style and the game they are playing.
In addition to its performance features, Project DualPlay adds a visual spectacle to the gaming experience. The device includes 360-degree customizable RGB lighting across the keyboard, screen bezels, and trackpad, alongside an infinity mirror lighting bar on the back and illuminated joysticks.
As mentioned earlier, this new laptop is merely a proof of concept and Acer has no plans to introduce a retail version. On the flip side, there’s a chance that we could see its tech, such as the detachable touchpad-to-controller gimmick, breathe new life on future Predator products.
