After it was announced back in May, and a series of developer previews and public betas, Android 15 has officially been released and is now considered stable.
The source code for Android 15 has been uploaded to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), but updates for consumer devices, including Pixel phones, have not yet begun. The latest update for Google smartphones is still based on Android 14.
Google has, however, announced that Android 15 will be available for Pixel devices, including the newly released Pixel 9 series over the coming weeks. However, this rollout does not include immediate updates for other brands.
Devices from other manufacturers, including Samsung, Honor, iQOO, Lenovo, Motorola, Nothing, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Sharp, Sony, Tecno, vivo, and Xiaomi, are only expected to receive Android 15 over the next few months. The update schedule for these devices will vary depending on the manufacturer and specific model, meaning some users may experience delays.
While Google has hinted that Android 15 might be available for Pixel devices as early as October, this timeline has not been officially confirmed. In the meantime, developers have access to the AOSP code for the new OS and can begin preparing for the official release by working with the new features and capabilities offered by the update.
