GoPro is set to unveil its new generation of action cameras on September 4, 2024. Promotional materials on the company’s official website and social media suggest that two models will be introduced, with many speculating that they will be branded as the Hero 13 Black.
According to leaks by Igor Bogdanov (aka Quadro_News), the Hero 13 Black will likely retain the same 27MP sensor and video recording capabilities as the Hero 12 Black, including 5.3K at 60 FPS and 4K at 120 FPS. The advanced HyperSmooth 6.0 image stabilisation and HDR features are also expected to carry over. However, the most significant upgrade appears to be a larger battery, increasing capacity from 1,720mAh to 1,900mAh, offering users more recording time.

The leakster also highlighted potential new accessories for the Hero 13 Black, including new Lens Mods. These include a Macro lens, an Ultra-Wide Lens, and possibly an Anamorphic lens. The Ultra-Wide Lens Mod’s specifics remain unclear, but it may offer an upgrade over the Max Lens Mod’s 177-degree field of view and strong stabilisation. The addition of an Anamorphic lens could also bring a cinematic element to GoPro’s action camera lineup.
Less information is available about the smaller, base model teased in promotional images. Speculation points to it being a successor to the Hero 11 Black Mini which launched in 2022, potentially without the vlogging-friendly front screen and extended battery life of its larger counterpart.
As mentioned earlier, GoPro will fully reveal its new products tomorrow via a live stream that’s set to start at 6am PT, or 9pm local time. The broadcast will be hosted on the brand’s official website and social media channels.
