DJI has revealed via its website and official X account that it will be launching a new product on 5 September 2024. Along with the announcement is a teaser of a new device called “Neo”, which happens to be the same name of an unannounced drone from the brand that was leaked online by several sources last month.
As usual, DJI did not provide any details regarding the upcoming product just yet. According to the aforementioned leaks, the Neo is a new cinewhoop-style drone that’s expected to be lighter and more affordable than the brand’s Avata models.

In terms of specifications, leakster Igor Bogdanov (aka @Quadro_News) claims the Neo features a 4K ultra-stabilised camera and weighs 135 grams. It is also suggested to come with AI subject tracking, QuickShots, palm take-off and landing, multiple control options, quad propellers with full-coverage guards, as well as a 16-minute flight time. Meanwhile, a separate leak by Jasper Ellens suggests that the new drone may cost around US$329 (~RM1,463).
Whether the information provided is accurate or not remains to be seen. The DJI Neo reveal is slated to be streamed live via the brand’s official website and social media channels this Thursday on 5 September at 8pm local time.
On a somewhat related note, rumours are also suggesting that DJI will unveil its latest action camera series, the Osmo Action 5. However, it is unclear whether the company will debut it alongside the Neo, or via a separate event. Initial leaks said the camera was supposed to debut last month, which later turned out to be inaccurate.
