Lenovo is set to reveal a new line-up of budget-friendly Copilot Plus PCs at the annual IFA trade show happening in Berlin this week, according to a leaked press release from Evan Blass. The launch will feature several models powered by a new, unannounced 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus chip, which was leaked ahead of its IFA debut.
The new range includes the Lenovo IdeaPad 5x 2-in-1 and the IdeaPad Slim 5x. The IdeaPad 5x 2-in-1 is a versatile convertible laptop with a 14-inch OLED display, while the IdeaPad Slim 5x is a full-metal clamshell laptop that also offers a 14-inch OLED screen. Both devices will apparently be powered by the new Snapdragon X Plus 8-core, which, though less powerful than the 10-core version, is expected to offer a solid balance of performance and efficiency at a lower cost.
Starting prices for these models begin at €899 (~RM4,354) for the IdeaPad Slim 5x and €999 (~RM4,838) for the IdeaPad 5x 2-in-1, making them notably cheaper than its current entry-level Copilot Plus PC, the Surface Laptop 7, which is priced at EUR 1,199 (~RM5,806). Lenovo seems to be positioning these new models as budget-friendly alternatives without compromising too much on performance.
While the U.S. pricing for the Lenovo Copilot Plus PC’s has not yet been confirmed, it is anticipated to be in line with the European prices. For example, the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus and HP OmniBook X, both featuring Qualcomm’s 10-core or 12-core Snapdragon chips, are currently discounted to US$799.99 (~RM3,503) and US$899.99 (~RM3,941) respectively.
In addition to these Snapdragon-powered models, Lenovo is also planning to launch other Copilot Plus PC’s that feature Intel and AMD processors. The Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition will come with Intel’s latest Core Ultra Series 2 chips, while the Yoga Pro 7 and IdeaPad Slim 5 will be powered by AMD’s latest Ryzen processors.
