Just last month, we saw a report by Chinese site MyDrivers claiming that Huawei will be unveiling its tri-fold device in the current one. More recently, the company has narrowed down a launch date to 10 September, with the event happening on 2.30PM.
This information comes from Huawei’s Weibo account, or more specifically its dedicated HarmonyOS account. Company consumer group chairman Richard Yu also noted on the platform that this has been something that’s five years in the making. He went as far as claiming that the device is something that competitors “have thought of but cannot make”, if the machine translation is to be believed.
Neither of the posts specifically mentions the Huawei tri-folding device, but the descriptions of the device in the two posts lines up. The date also happens to fall within the window claimed by the aforementioned report, as does the graphic with the date of the launch event. Of course, it’s entirely possible for the company to throw a curveball despite most signs pointing to the tri-fold device.
With Yu having been seen in public with the tri-fold device over the past month though, suffice to say that it’s been really convincing that Huawei plans to launch the device when it says it will. Though the choice of date is interesting, doing so basically half a day after the annual iPhone refresh.
