Qualcomm first unveiled the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 all the way back in 2022. If you thought the chip was due for a successor, you’re not alone, as the company itself apparently thinks so too. This is because a 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is now listed on its website, with the number two being skipped for whatever reason.
In terms of performance, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 sits sort on in between the 6 Gen 1 and 7s Gen 2. For their exact numbers’ the chip’s documentation lists four performance cores running up to 2.4GHz clock speed, with another four efficiency cores running up to 1.8GHz. Memory support goes up to 12GB of 3200MHz LP-DDR5, but storage is limited to UFS 3.1
Display output support on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 goes up to Full HD+ at 120Hz refresh rate. As for imaging tech, phones using the chip will be able to snap stills of up to 200MP, while videos can go up to 4K HDR at 30fps. For the camera hardware specifically, the chip can handle between a single 48MP sensor and three 16MP shooters, with a 32MP + 16MP combo also being an option.
Because the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 listing has been added pretty quietly, without the fanfare of an official announcement, there’s currently no word on when the first phones sporting the chip will appear. Ditto which brand will said phone be made by, though it wouldn’t be surprising if one of the Chinese brands were among the first adopters.
