Earlier today, MSI gave us a very brief look at what we can expect from the brand’s upcoming successor of the Claw, the Claw 8 AI Plus gaming handheld and we have to say: we’re seeing a pattern here.
Just so we’re clear, we can’t and won’t be sharing any details about the processor being used in the Claw 8 AI Plus, although at this point, we all know that it is an Intel Lunar Lake processor. We just can’t say which one it is.
That being said, we can share more specifics about the gaming handheld, such an 8-inch FHD+ display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. That is bigger than the display of the first Claw, which measured in at 7-inches and had the standard 16:9 aspect ratio. That, and it still has the same 120Hz VRR display.
Other changes to the Claw 8 AI Plus include the addition of a second Thunderbolt 4 port, along with a massive 80Whr battery. If these additions sound all to familiar, you’re not alone. These additions do feel a lot like what ASUS did with its own ROG Ally X console, the major difference obviously being the chipset underneath the hood.
The only detail we’re missing here is the pricing and availability of the Claw 8 AI Plus. MSI did tell us that the the handheld would be making an appearance at IFA 2024, but no more than that. In the meantime, if you’re keen on getting the original Claw, you may be happy to know that the brand is having a promotion on its first gaming handheld, with prices as low as RM2,619 for the base model.
