Xiaomi Malaysia has announced a permanent price reduction for the Redmi A3, the entry-level smartphone that was launched back in March this year. The change knocks down the pricing to RM349, which is RM80 less than the device’s debut.
To recap, the Redmi A3 offers a 6.71-inch LCD display with 720 x 1650 pixel resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, peak brightness of 500 nits, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Additionally, it features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a loudspeaker, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Android 14, as well as 4G, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity.
Under its hood is a MediaTek Helio G36 chipset that’s paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, along with a microSD card slot for expansion. Meanwhile, powering the phone is a 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging via USB-C.
For imaging, the Redmi A3 features a dual camera setup comprising an 8MP primary and a 0.08MP auxiliary lens that’s housed within a large circular island on its back. In front, housed within the tear-drop notch on its display is a 5MP selfie shooter.
The Redmi A3 comes in three colours, Midnight Black, Forest Green and Star Blue, which are fitted with either a glass or faux-leather back depending on the chosen option. Those interested can purchase the phone at its revised pricing today via Xiaomi’s official online store on its website and on Lazada. Those who prefer to shop on Shopee will have to wait until tomorrow for the price change to be reflected, however.
