Nothing’s latest smartphone, the Phone (2a) Plus, might be coming here sooner rather than later. This is because the phone has received certification from SIRIM, which usually indicates that a product is Malaysia-bound.
The Phone (2a) Plus was listed on the SIRIM database on 19 August 2024 with the model number A142P, less than three weeks after the device was unveiled. Moreover, the brand’s Shopee store has a new listing titled “Something new is coming soon”, with two colour options and a single configuration, which is likely the upcoming smartphone.
While we don’t know exactly when the phone is launching, the specs and design are already out, with the main differences from the regular model being the chipset, charging speed, and front camera. The Phone (2a) Plus gets a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,300 nits.
The mid-ranger runs on the faster MediaTek Dimensity 7350 Pro chipset paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. On the imaging side, it features a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP selfie shooter. Powering it is a 5,000mAh battery with a nominally faster charging speed of 50W. It retails for US$399 (~RM1,745) in the US, so we can expect it to be available in that price range.
