Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) officially launched two new TWS earbuds, the Pi8 and Pi6. Both audio accessories are follow-ups to their predecessors, the Pi7 S2 and Pi5 S2.
Both the earbuds support Bluetooth 5.4 and 24-bit 96kHz aptX audio playback, although the higher-end Pi8 is able to do aptX Lossless. Additionally, both earbuds share the same IP54 rating and B&W’s proprietary ANC technology, with the brand saying that the ones in these models are new and improved.
The Pi6 houses the same 12mm bio-cellulose drivers and the Px7 S2e, while the Pi8 earbuds are fitted with 12mm carbon cones. In terms of battery life, the flagship model can last for 6.5 hours on a full charge, with its charging cradle providing an additional 13.5 hours. The lower-tier Pi6 has slightly longer endurance at eight hours on a full charge, with its casing holding a further 16 hours.
Lastly, both earbuds will have an accompanying B&W app that allows users to tweak their sound preferences. For the Pi8, the brands says that consumers will be able to do that with an advanced 5-band EQ, while the Pi6 gets simple treble and bass sliders, just like the Px7 S2e.
The B&W Pi8 and Pi6 are priced at US$399 and US$249 respectively. The lower-tier Pi6 is currently open to preorders only and will only start shipping out from 13 September onwards, while the more premium model is available starting right now. At the time of writing, there is still no word on local pricing.
Colour options for the Pi8 include Anthracite Black, Dove White, Jade Green, and Midnight Blue. The Pi6 will be available in Cloud Grey, Storm Grey, Forest Green, and Glacier Blue.
