It looks like we will be learning about Huawei’s mysterious tri-folding smartphone soon. According to MyDrivers, company chairman Richard Yu says the device is slated to be unveiled sometime in September this year.
Yu revealed this during the delivery ceremony in China for the Stelato S9, a luxury electric vehicle (EV) that features an infotainment system powered by Huawei’s HarmonyOS. When asked by a customer regarding the tri-folding smartphone, the chairman simply answered “next month.” However, he didn’t provide an exact date.
In case you missed it, Yu had previously been spotted using the unannounced Huawei tri-folding device on multiple occasions. Recent spy shots reveal the smartphone featuring a double hinge mechanism, as well as a large display in its unfolded form. Interestingly, one of the images depicts it having a slim form factor when fully folded.
Until more is revealed soon, details surrounding the upcoming smartphone will remain a mystery for the time being. One thing’s for sure, it will likely be powered by Huawei’s own HarmonyOS platform, or at least a version of it. Other than that, it is speculated that the device could feature a massive 10-inch foldable panel.
