Samsung has stuck with its naming convention for its flagship Galaxy S series for quite awhile now, with every year introducing a base, a Plus and an Ultra variant. A leakster has claimed that this may change with an unspecified S entry in the future, with all but the base model getting a different name.
Yogesh Brar has claimed on X, previously Twitter, that the Samsung Galaxy S25 will have its Ultra model called the Note instead, while the Plus will be named the Pro. Though in a reply to another commenter, he also claims that the “S25U branding has been fixed, since the talks of rebranding are on maybe they will consider doing it with S26”.
Google had a weird name for Fold but they are not the only one
I hear Samsung could do the same
Ultra could be called Note, Plus would be Pro
What sounds better?
Galaxy S25 Ultra or Galaxy S25 Note ?— Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh) August 16, 2024
On one hand, these name make some degree of sense, even if the timing for the Note is way overdue. With the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra being the first one to have an integrated S-Pen slot since the termination of the dedicated Note line, it would have probably made more sense for the name change to happen then. Then there’s the change from the Plus to Pro, which could really go either way, since the variant is both larger and comes with better internals than the base model.

Of course, on the flip side, Brar doesn’t have the cleanest record when it comes to leaks. With that in mind, the usual dose of salt is doubly recommended for this claim.
