Huawei chairman Richard Yu may not be a movie star, but he has been spied on a lot lately. Well, mostly due to the device he has been frequently seen using, which is believed to be the company’s supposedly upcoming tri-folding smartphone.
Recently shared on China’s popular social network Weibo are two more photos featuring Yu and the mysterious foldable. This time around, we get to see it in its folded form, which almost looks like a traditional bar-shaped phone if not for the collapsed panels visible at this angle. Interestingly, it looks considerably thin, though this could be attributed to optical illusion and poor image quality.
The images also reveal the smartphone featuring two hinges that connect the first and last panels to the middle one, which confirms its tri-folding form factor. Lastly, visible on its back is a large circular camera bump that’s somewhat reminiscent of the one featured on the Huawei Mate X5. However, due to the picture’s fuzziness, we can’t tell how many sensors it is equipped with.
Specifications of the tri-folding device is still a mystery for now, but it is believed that it can unfold to reveal a larger 10-inch display. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait for an official announcement to find out what other hardware it features. As to when that may be is still anyone’s guess.
