Last month, Lotus Cars Malaysia announced an exclusive preview for the car that the brand calls its first electric Hyper-GT car, the Lotus Emeya. Now, the company has officially launched the EV in question, alongside the opening of the company’s flagship store.
In terms of the car itself, the Lotus Emeya comes with a spec sheet that’s familiar if you caught the announcement from last week. But in case you missed it, the EV comes in base model, with S and R variants. That last one differs from the other two in some ways as a tradeoff for better performance.
For starters, despite all variants of the Lotus Emeya sharing a dual-motor config, the base and S models feature a single-speed transmission, while the R gets dual-speed instead. This means the former provides 603 bhp and 710 Nm of torque and a century sprint speed of 4.15 seconds, while the latter gets 905 bhp and 985 Nm of torque, and 0-100 km/h 2.78 seconds.
Similarly, the Lotus Emeya line shares a 800V / 102kWh battery, but the base model, has a top WLTP range of 610km. The S and R models have those figures at 540km and 435km respectively. For what it’s worth, charging rate is uniform across the board, with all three supporting up to 400kW. That being said, the 0% to 80% charging time of 18 minutes provided is based on 350kW charging.
On the flip side, there are some things that the S and R models of the Lotus Emeya share instead of the base model. For instance, the former make use of 21-inch wheels while the latte uses 20-inch ones instead. It’s the same story with the front brake calipers, with the former using six-piston calipers while the later uses four-piston ones.
For their prices, the base model Lotus Emeya has an on-the-road price of RM555,000 excluding road tax and insurance, which is a little lower than what was revealed last month. The S and R models, on the other hand, have price tags of RM643,00 and RM777,000 respectively.
As for the flagship store itself, despite being called the Lotus Kuala Lumpur, it’s actually located in Glenmarie, Shah Alam. It has a lounge, a dedicated merchandising area, and a special configurator room for customers to personalise their car. The Emeya is described as its “crown jewel”, which probably means that it’s the most reliable place to be if you want to catch a glimpse of the car. Of course, you might want to check the EV’s dedicated page first before doing so.
