Select Galaxy A smartphones and the Galaxy Tab S9 FE series of tablets will be receiving the AI-powered “Circle to Search” feature, the company announced via its website. As you may recall, the Samsung and Google co-developed tool was introduced as part of the former’s Galaxy AI suite, which debuted first on this year’s Galaxy S24 series and eventually on the brand’s older flagship devices later on.
Samsung reveals that the update is currently being rolled out to the Galaxy A55, Galaxy A54, Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A34 models, in addition to both the standard and Plus variants of the Galaxy Tab S9 FE line-up. This update somewhat confirmed a previous rumour regarding Samsung’s plans of bringing over Galaxy AI to its mid-range devices. While it’s only one feature from the suite, it’s a start, at least.
“These updates unlock new possibilities for the Galaxy A series and Galaxy Tab S9 FE series and reinforce our commitment to providing cutting-edge technology for more Galaxy users,” said Samsung president and head of mobile experience business TM Roh in the announcement. “We are dedicated to bringing best-in-class AI technology to a broader audience, empowering users with the option to work more efficiently, create more freely and enjoy richer, more personalised interactions with their devices.”
To recap, in order to bring up Circle to Search, simply press and hold the bottom of the screen when browsing a website, or viewing a photo or video. Upon doing so, the feature’s interface will pop-up, and users can then draw a circle around a subject of interest to look up more information regarding it. Google will then provide you with a list of hyperlinks based on your search, though keep in mind that results may not be totally accurate. Also bear in mind that an internet connection is required in order to use Circle to Search.
Unfortunately, Samsung did not say if there’s any plans to introduce other Galaxy AI features to the aforementioned devices. Even then, it is quite likely that only certain tools will be ported over due to hardware limitations on the Galaxy A models as well as Galaxy Tab S9 FE series.
