Alongside the Watch 3, the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 also joins the wave of products to enter the Malaysian market. Keeping itself distinct from the rest of the TWS buds market is what the internet search giant calls its Tensor A1 audio chip, which powers most of the things that these pair of buds can deliver to its wearer.
Of course, there are some design improvements on the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 that don’t rely on the dedicated audio chip. But since these are improvements to the previous generation model which didn’t make their way here, there isn’t much of a point of comparison to be made. Either way, the company promises that this new pair of earbuds are 24% lighte and 27% smaller than before, and are made to both fit better while maximising comfort.
Now, going back to the Tensor A1 chip in the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2, the first feature the chip promises is “ultra low-latency audio processing” for ANC that’s twice as good as before. The chip’s multipath processing also means that the actual audio that you want to hear gets a dedicated “highway lane” as a company rep described it, ensuring it’s not sharing resources with the ANC half of things.
Said chip also contributes to improved battery life on the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2, or so the company claims. Either way, this gives the buds themselves up to eight hours of playback time, or up to 30 hours when the case is included. A 15-minute charge is also claimed to be able to give you three hours of playback time.
Perhaps the most fitting feature of the Google Pixel Buds 2 Pro, considering the theme of everything launched, is Gemini compatibility. Using the buds alone, you can get it to do just about anything Gemini can do on your phone, and you get access to all of these features without needing to even unlock said phone.
If you’re itching to get yourself on a pair of Google Pixel Buds 2 Pro, the bad news is that these are the latest to land on our shores, which is on 22 September. But for what it’s worth, you can get them from the same channels as the Pixel 9 phones and the Watch 3, and for a price of RM1,099 when it does become available.
