Back in June, code within the beta version of the Google App has shown bits of the Audio Search function being integrated into Circle to Search. In a newer beta version, the feature is seen doing its thing nearly in full, and it works just as you thought it would, and maybe a bit more.
As Android Authority reports, this version of the Google app beta is noted to be 15.32.36. This time, the report showcases the new addition to Circle to Search in action, having a song being played from YouTube Music, and getting Audio search to identify the track.
While the feature managed to identify the song being played correctly, the internet search part of it didn’t quite make it. The report says that “this is likely due to a server-side issue”, but considering Circle to Search managed to get the correct text into the search bar, you can probably just copy it out and paste it in your browser and search engine of choice.
Upon first using Audio search via Circle to Search, you get a popup notifying you of the feature. Like many new software additions, this will likely be a one-time thing. Also noted in the report is that the feature can “identify music that’s playing ambiently, even if you’re just humming it”. The interface looks to be the same as it was before, which is probably a good thing.
Like we mentioned before though, there’s currently no word on when this feature will be released to the general public. But considering this Circle to Search addition looks to be progressing smoothly in its beta stages, it seems pretty unlikely that its rollout will be abruptly cancelled.
