TikTok is launching a new feature called TikTok Spotlight. It’s a feature that will automatically detect relevant clips from a movie or a TV show and provide users with additional information, including further details in order to reduce user frustration.
The feature essentially allows users to navigate through contextless videos that are frequently posted on the platform and are taken from certain movies or shows. Now, it will display a link to a dedicated landing page with details about said content, and include a synopsis, cast information, official accounts, and links to other TikToks related to the same title.

Additionally, the landing page will offer information on where to stream the show or movie or how to purchase tickets if it’s still in theatres.
Suffice it to say, TikTok has become a platform for movie and TV show promotion and to that end, the social media platform is, in a way, trying to present advantages for studios and content creators. Studios will be able to use TikTok Spotlight to connect with creators who can help promote projects and gain access to engagement analytics.
And while it caters to a specific audience, this feature could be a valuable tool for users to connect with pop culture trends on TikTok, making it easier to link trends directly to products and purchase options.
