Xiaomi is set to launch a new wearable this week with the Smart Band 9, which is the successor to last year’s Smart Band 8. It gets the same exact design and its specs are quite similar to its predecessor, but some notable upgrades include the display brightness and battery life.
The company has posted a teaser for the wearable with a release date of 15 August 2024. Ahead of this, the brand’s store in Seremban has confirmed with us that the Band 9 will be retailing at RM199, the same price as when the Smart Band 8 initially launched. It will be available through Xiaomi’s Shopee store alongside the upcoming Redmi Buds 6 Active.
Specs-wise, the Band 9 sports a 1.62-inch AMOLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate and a higher peak brightness of 1,200 nits for better outdoor visibility. It also comes with a 5ATM rating for water resistance and on the connectivity side, it supports Bluetooth 5.4.
The battery life sees a significant jump with its bigger 233mAh cell, increasing the battery life from last year’s 16-day estimate to a whopping 21 days, although it is cut to nine days when Always-On Display is enabled. For health, the Smart Band 9 is packed with a heart rate sensor as well as a blood oxygen sensor to monitor your vitals, along with over 150 sports modes to track your workouts.
