It will be about a week to go until Google’s first-party Pixel smartphones officially arrive in Malaysia for the first time ever. Now, it appears that the tech giant could potentially offer its upcoming Pixel 9 series directly through Shopee and Lazada.
While there’s no announcement from Google Malaysia about officially opening an online store on two of the country’s popular e-commerce platforms, a mysterious “Google Pixel Store” has now quietly surfaced on both. What’s intriguing is that the store is hosted under Shopee Mall and Lazada Flagship labels, which are reserved for brands and authorised distributors.
However, it is uncertain whether either store is managed by Google itself or by an official local distributor. Both Google Pixel Stores have no products listed as of yet, while their respective home pages are populated with Pixel 9 teasers and promotional materials for the current-gen model. Based on its page details, the Shopee version was apparently established 30 days ago.
It also appears that you’ll be able to pre-order the company’s upcoming smartphones through the Google Pixel Store on either platform, and even purchase it directly once stock is available. Official or not, this is looking to be a possible alternative for those not planning to purchase the Pixel 9 series from CelcomDigi, Maxis, or the three local distributors that are confirmed offering the line-up in Malaysia.
