WhatsApp previously let users create events for groups within Communities but now, the app has rolled out the feature to all group chats. This new event planning tool allows users to easily organise meetings, events, and like within a group chat for clearer communication.
Released through the messaging app’s latest update, users can tap the + button in a group and select Event to set it up. You can choose a name, give an optional description, pick a time and date, and even provide a WhatsApp call link for voice or video calls. Keep in mind that for events with a call link, you can’t set the event for more than a year ahead.
Once the event is created, all members in the group will get a notification and will be able to RSVP. Members are also allowed to RSVP for an additional guest, and it seems there is no way to disable this option as of now.
Last year, WhatsApp enabled users to set up polls in chats. With the combination of polls and events, it’s a lot easier to reach a decision within your groups and to set up the agreed-upon meetup.
