The most recent claim about an Apple foldable device came via a report by The Information, which cites sources claiming that the clamshell-folding iPhone is slated for a 2026 release. It looks like the larger foldable by the bitten fruit brand will also be available within the same window. In fact, the recent claim is that this iPad and MacBook combo will be unveiled earlier than the phone.
This comes via 9to5Mac, which cites analyst Jeff Pu who claims that the larger Apple foldable, which measures 18.8 inches when unfolded, will be releasing within the second quarter of 2026. The clamshell-folding iPhone, on the other hand, “will follow in late 2026”. Not a precise window by any means, but it allows for it to be released within the usual window that the company releases its yearly phone hardware update.
As with all such claims, this one with the iPad / MacBook hybrid should be taken with a healthy dose of salt. Especially considering that the items in question are still two years away, and even accurately leaked plans can change in that time. That being the case, this recent one mentions one of the potential foldables by Apple.
Another such foldable, which had its rumours circulating around February of this year, was claimed to be a potential replacement to the iPad mini. This is said to measure between the high 7- to low 8-inch range, with a release range of between 2026 and 2027. It remains to be seen if rumours about this item are inaccurate, or the company has not made much headway on that front.
