Maybank has announced the official date for when it will be shutting down the Maybank2u app completely. This comes after the bank removed the mobile app from app stores and ceased updating it back in June as part of its move to transition all of its users to the MAE app.
While users who currently have the app installed on their phones can still access the bank’s services, this will no longer be the case when Maybank2u MY is shut down on 28 August 2024. Affected users are strongly encouraged to install the MAE app moving forward, but they can still access the desktop website of Maybank2u.
The MAE app was first introduced by the bank in 2019 to improve its digital efforts, starting as an e-wallet service before gradually being upgraded to a full-fledged banking app over the years. It is touted as a more secure platform packed with a laundry list of features including savings goals, money requests, a bill splitting tool, reloads, transfers, and more.
If you are just switching to MAE, keep in mind that you will need to register for Secure2u. To do so, you must activate it through a Maybank ATM and go through a 12-hour cooling period — for security purposes — before being able to approve transactions.
