It wasn’t all that long ago when the iQOO Z9 series was launched, but it looks like a mid-generation upgrade is already on the way. And the naming convention here is unsurprising as well, with the iQOO Z9s, as well as a Pro model, coming in to fill a gap that may or may not actually be there in the market.
GSMArena reports that the brand has officially revealed parts of the spec sheet for the iQOO Z9s and Z9s Pro. Starting with the chipsets, the former will be running a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 while the latter gets a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. Both will sharing a 3D curved AMOLED screen, with the base model having a peak brightness of 1,800 nits, while the later pushes it up to 4,500.
Also mentioned in the report is a 50MP main camera shared between the two models, with an 8MP wide-angle shooter to be found only on the iQOO Z9s Pro. As a sign of the times, these will also ostensibly feature some generative AI features like AI Erase. The report also notes a 5,500mAh battery for the Pro, but none for the base model.
Finally, there’s also a mention of a 21 August launch date, at least in India. No specific prices were provided, though the report claims that “the press note we received suggests both phones will be priced under INR25,000” (~RM1,321).
