In shocking news, Google Malaysia has just teased the Pixel 9 series on its X and YouTube pages today, hinting of the possible arrival of the smartphones in the local market. If this assumption is accurate, this will be the first time that the Pixel phone will be officially sold in the country.
As another first, all three upcoming devices have made an appearance on the SIRIM database, making their availability here ever more imminent. The Google Pixel 9, 9 Pro, and 9 Pro XL have all received certification in July with the model numbers GUR25, GEC77, and GZC4K respectively.
The series is set to be unveiled on 14 August 2024 and as per Google tradition, several of its specs have already been leaked. For one thing, the series is said to come with faster charging than its predecessor with a 45W charging speed.

The Pixel 9 Pro XL is rumoured to have a 5,060mAh battery, which is only nominally larger than the Pixel 8 Pro. All the models will come with a “24 hours of battery life” promise. Confirming the leaked renders, the teaser shows that the design of this year’s Pixels has been changed to a pill-shaped camera island that does not connect to the frame.
