Those who bought the PS5 would know of the Astro’s Playroom, which is essentially a whole tech demo for the DualSense controller. Now, the titular character of said software is getting its own game, simply called Astro Bot. And in conjunction with that, the controller itself is getting a limited, special edition version based on the same game.
As you’d expect, this Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense controller comes with the look that mirrors the character in its name. The overall colour scheme is white and blue like the mascot character, but the colour separation here is non-standard, as in it’s not split in the same way the white and black of the normal controller is. Then there are finer details like lining that you’d more expect to see form a GunPla kit than a controller. But probably the best element on this controller are the pixel art-esque eyes of the bot itself on the track pad.
For what it’s worth, the official PlayStation Blog post that announced the Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense talks more about the game itself rather than the controller. Can’t really blame the brand too much, since besides the special coat of paint, it is essentially the same as any other DualSense controller. It’s no Edge, to say the least.
That being said though, the Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense controller costs more than prior special editions, for whatever reason. Locally, it will come with a price tag of RM399, and pre-orders from local retailers will start on 9 August. General availability will be on 6 September, on the same day as the game’s release.
