The OPPO A18 was brought into the Malaysian market in late October of last year. It was probably not the lowest in terms of price points for smartphones, but arguably pretty affordable. But it looks like it has gotten even more so, as the company announced that it is getting a price cut.
Initially launched with a price tag of RM499, the company has announced on its official Facebook account that the OPPO A18 is getting a new price of RM399. It’s obviously a RM100 discount compared to when it first launched, but it’s probably worth mentioning that the phone has gotten a price cut before, down to RM459. This happened as recently as May of this year.
Either way, if you need a refresher of what the OPPO A18 is all about, this comes with a 6.56-inch HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh and sampling rate. Inside, it has a MediaTek Helio G85, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage spce, as well as a 5,000mAh battery. It also comes with a 8MP main + 2MP depth sensor camera combo at the back, and a 2MP shooter in a waterdrop notch in front. The entire set also gets an IP54 rating.
Considering when the OPPO A18 was first launched, as well as that of the preceding A17 and the A17k variant, chances are the price reduction is indicating that a successor model in on the way. Of course, that’s purely speculation on our part, and we won’t know for sure until an official announcement, or at least a teaser, gets released.
