Apple Intelligence isn’t expected to be ready for the public releases of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 in September, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports. Instead, it will likely be made available as part of a firmware update to both operating platforms around October this year.
As previously showcased during the company’s WWDC 24 keynote, Apple Intelligence will include capabilities such as improved writing, updates to Siri, customisable notifications, and ChatGPT integration. However, its initial availability won’t include its full range of features, with some only made available sometime next year.
It should be noted Apple Intelligence won’t be compatible with all iOS 18 devices. As specified by Apple on its website, only those equipped with an A17 Pro processor or an M-series chip are supported, meaning that models other than the iPhone 15 Pro series, as well as recent iPads and Macs are excluded.
Meanwhile, Gurman says upcoming developer beta updates for iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 will include some Apple Intelligence features. He claims that these are expected to be released as soon as this week.
